Toy Story
Motion Capture Remake
This is a motion capture-based project made by me and my team to promote the school's newly acquired motion capture technology and the digital animation program, remaking the Mrs Nesbitt scene from the movie Toy Story (1995).
I was in charge of managing and overseeing the production of this project, including learning and using the motion capture technology to dress up the actors, direct the acting, capture the animation data, and polish the 3D animation, additionally, I did the environment art of all the scenes.
We made this project as an homage to how Toy Story was the first 3D animation movie ever made.

CONCEPT
For this idea we had to choose a scene to recreate using motion capture technology, some of our ideas were a cutscene of the game Resident Evil, a cutscene of the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the Mrs Nesbitt scene of the first movie of Toy Story, and because of the time constraints we had at that time, we decided to go for the Toy Story scene, since it included enough acting for the motion capture, enough 3D animation that we were able to do and enough time to be able to render correctly.
We divided the entire scene into three segments to assign to each team member.

PROJECT PLANNING
Since I was in charge of directing all the production, I had to cast and direct the actors and prepare the shooting schedule as well.

ENVIRONMENT MODELLING
I was in charge of modelling the environment for the entirety of the project, including textures and do the layout. I had to model and texture all the props used for the scene as well.
MOTION CAPTURE
For the project, we used Vicon Blade software to properly capture the actor movements.

Additionally, we used Autodesk Motion Builder to properly merge the raw data captured from the actors with the 3D models of Woody, Buzz and Hannah respectively.
